Learn space-saving container gardening
The freshest vegetables come right from your own backyard. But if you don’t have a backyard, it doesn’t mean you can’t grow your own produce. Learn the basics of container gardening at Geobunga Outdoor Garden Center at 9 a.m. March 17.
Instructors will discuss planting and harvesting, and will be on hand to offer advice on specific gardening needs. The center will also have available all the supplies needed to create a container garden.
The event is free. Call the center, at 4299 Lawehana St. (across the street from Target), at 422-4567, or visit www.geobunga.com.
Lose weight, feel good via whole foods
Robyn Openshaw, author of "The Green Smoothies Diet," will discuss and demonstrate how 10 minutes in the kitchen using whole foods can result in weight loss, energy gains and better digestion, in a presentation 7 p.m. March 17 at McCoy Pavilion at Ala Moana Beach Park.
Openshaw teaches courses on supporting health through a whole-foods, mostly living-plant-based diet.
