Police are still looking for suspects and trying to determine whether a mysterious package left next to a Kaimuki home was an actual bomb.

Police called out the bomb squad Sunday at about 9:10 a.m. to remove a possible explosive device from a Kaimuki home.

Sam Kim, who lives in a home at 714 7th Ave., discovered the device, which resembled a pipe bomb. Kim told Hawaii News Now that the device was “”a pipe bomb, a cylinder with caps on top with a cigarette embedded between the matches.”

Police used a remote-controlled robot to examine and remove the device.

Police said the authenticity of the device is pending analysis.

Police said the person or persons responsible could face charges of first-degree attempted arson, first-degree terroristic threatening and using a prohibited explosive device.
