The nonprofit Sunshine Review has named Honolulu’s city website one of the most transparent government sites in the nation.

The Sunshine Review is a national group that promotes government transparency. For Sunshine Week, it ranked more than 6,000 state and city websites and awarded 214 Sunny Awards.

The Honolulu.gov website received a Sunny Award after being graded on disclosure of information about budgets, meetings, elected and administrative, permits, audits, contracts and other public matters.

Government sites were also scored for ease of use and availability of information.

Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle says the city’s commitment to transparency is serious and will continue.
