Seniors are invited to the state Capitol April 21 to celebrate Kupuna Power.

The two-hour event seeks to celebrate Hawaii seniors and arm them with empowering information. Local entertainers will be present, and seniors are asked to be ready to participate in healthy exercise, including Zumba.

The free event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a welcome by organizer state Sen. Brickwood Galuteria, followed by the national anthem from Jimmy Borges and Hawaii Ponoi by Marlene Sai.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie will also issue a proclamation.

The event includes presentations on Medicaid and Medicare, identity theft and long term insurance.

The day is all about empowering kupuna with education, entertainment and exercise though an interactive and fun event, Galuteria says.
