Kamehameha Schools announced today that Lehua Veincent has been selected high school principal of its Hawaii island campus.

Veincent is principal of Keaukaha Elementary School and has worked more than 25 years as a teacher and administrator in the state Department of Education, Kamehameha Schools said.

Veincent will join Kamehameha-Hawaii on July 1.

He has also served as principal and founder of the Ke Ana La’ahana Public Charter School in Keaukaha and as vice principal of Hilo High and Intermediate.

“Kumu Lehua is fluent in Olelo Hawaii (Hawaiian language) and has worked with community leaders to incorporate innovative educational methodologies, including Hawaiian culture-based education into the fabric of curriculum at Keaukaha Elementary School and other schools where he has served,” said Dr. Holoua Stender, who will become headmaster of Kamehameha-Hawaii in July.
