Maui residents are invited to create and display works of art made of trash for the Art of Trash 2012 exhibit beginning April 14 at Maui Mall.

The annual exhibit showcases everyday objects that have been transformed and given new life. It is organized by nonprofit groups Community Work Day Program and SharingAloha.

Work by the students of Pomaikai Elementary School will be showcased this year.

People are asked to bring their works to the mall space next to Taco Del Mar from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14. The entry fee is $10 per piece.

Entry forms are available at all public libraries. For more information, call Wilma Nakamura at 573-3911. For examples of past works, visit www.facebook.com/artoftrash.
