Americans Elect gains spot on Hawaii’s general election ballot
A group trying to mount a novel third-party presidential campaign has gained a spot on the Hawaii general election ballot this fall.
Hawaii is the 20th state to certify Americans Elect, which is trying to secure ballot access in all 50 states.
The group announced Wednesday it collected more than 1,400 signatures in Hawaii, surpassing the state’s requirement of 691 signatures.
Americans Elect is an online effort that expects to have hundreds of thousands of people take part in choosing a candidate in a process that culminates in a virtual convention this June.
