UH baseball team drops series opener with UC Davis
The Hawaii baseball team couldn’t get back on track in a return home, falling 5-3 to UC Davis tonight at Les Murakami Stadium.
UH (14-12) dropped its fifth straight game after an 0-4 outing at Gonzaga last week. UCD improved to 11-10 to kick off the four-game nonconference series.
Besides a two-run homer by UH designated hitter Trevor Podratz, UCD starter Dayne Quist (4-0) kept the Rainbows in check. The senior lefty struck out nine and walked one in seven innings of work.
The ‘Bows trailed 3-0 after an inning as starter Matt Sisto (4-3) fell behind at the outset, hitting two of the first five Aggies batters and giving up three straight hits in between. He settled down eventually and lasted eight innings.
