A semi-truck flipped on its side, closing three lanes on the H-1 Freeway.

All lanes of H-1 freeway westbound near the Aiea Heights Road overpass reopened about 5:30 p.m. after crews cleared debris from an earlier accident involving a semi-truck and a spilled load of asphalt.

The crash happened early this afternoon when the truck flipped on its side, spilling the asphalt load.

The truck’s driver was taken to a hospital in serious condition, city Emergency Medical Services said.

Rush-hour traffic toward Waianae and Wahiawa was backed up as asphalt had spread across several westbound lanes.
