>> UNLV senior Danny Higa (Saint Louis ’08) went 2-for-10 with three walks, three runs scored and a stolen base as the Rebels lost two of three against Texas Christian over the weekend.
>> San Francisco freshman left-hander Sheldon Lee (‘Iolani ’10) allowed two hits in a scoreless inning in a 3-1 loss to Sacramento State last Wednesday to lower his ERA to 2.08.
>> San Jose State freshman Kalei Contrades (Saint Louis ’11) allowed one run on two hits in 22⁄3 innings with one walk and two strikeouts in a 6-4 loss to Brown last Wednesday.
>> Pacific (Ore.) senior Mike Nagamine (Mid-Pacific ’08) went 4-for-4 with a home run, three runs, three RBIs and two stolen bases in the first game of a doubleheader sweep of Willamette (Ore.) on Monday. Junior Nick Tasaka (Mid-Pacific ’09) went 3-for-9 with a double, three runs, two walks, an RBI and a stolen base, and Michael Arakaki (Mid-Pacific ’09) went 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for the Boxers. Bearcats freshman Tiras Koon (‘Iolani ’11) went 2-for-7 with a triple, two RBIs, two walks and a stolen base.
>> Illinois Tech sophomore outfielder Jordan Obata (Mid-Pacific ’10) went 3-for-6 with a home run, three runs, two RBIs and a walk in a doubleheader split against Saint Francis last Wednesday. Corey Gokan (‘Iolani ’11) singled, and Reid Matsumoto (Moanalua ’08) went 2-for-8 with an RBI for the Scarlet Hawks.
>> Northern Colorado freshman outfielder Jensen Park (‘Iolani ’11) went 4-for-12 with two RBIs and a run scored to help the Bears win one out of three against Seattle U. over the weekend. Second baseman Ryan Yamane (Punahou ’11) singled, walked four times, scored twice and drove in a run for Northern Colorado.
>> Whittier (Calif.) sophomore Curtis Martin (‘Iolani ’10) allowed two runs on three hits in three innings with two walks and a strikeout in an 8-4 loss to La Verne (Calif.) on Sunday.
SOFTBALL
>> Mississippi State senior Ka‘ili Smith (Kapolei ’08) hit .400 (4-for-10) with two walks, two RBIs and a stolen base as the Aggies dropped all three games to Alabama over the weekend.
>> New Mexico State freshman third baseman Briana Tovio-Asato (Kapolei ’11) singled and drew two walks as the Aggies lost all three games to Hawaii over the weekend.
>> East Carolina junior Kai Clark (Kapolei ’09) went 4-for-10 with a run and stole her first base of the season in the Pirates’ three-game sweep at the hands of Central Florida. Sophomore Kristi Oshiro (Mililani ’10) added two hits and Chelsea Kaluhiokalani-Glackin (Saint Francis ’10) had one hit in six at-bats for ECU.
>> Loyola Marymount senior Kylie Ahlo (‘Iolani ’08) singled and scored three times as the Lions split a four-game series against Santa Clara over the weekend.
>> St. Martin’s (Wash.) junior Joslyn Eugenio (Sacred Hearts ’09) hit .529 (9-for-17) with three doubles, two walks, five runs scored and two RBIs to help the Saints finish 4-2 in last weekend’s Tournament of Champions in Turlock, Calif. Eugenio also pitched a complete game in a 7-2 win over Dominican, allowing four hits and both runs with one walk and no strikeouts to earn all-tournament honors.
>> Concordia (Texas) junior Laura Abellanida (Sacred Hearts ’09) went 4-for-8 with a double, walk, run and RBI in four games against Texas Lutheran over the weekend.
MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
>> Charleston Southern freshman Richard Landford (Mililani ’11) finished eighth in the discus, throwing a personal-best 142 feet, 10 inches at a meet at North Florida over the weekend.
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD
>> Charleston Southern freshmen Joshlyn Noga (Kahuku ’11) and Heaven-Lee Tanuvasa (Kalani ’11) set personal records at a meet last weekend at North Florida. Noga posted a season-best throw of 41 feet, 11 1⁄2 inches in the shot put to finish eighth and also set personal records in the discus (116-4) and hammer throw (126-10). Tanuvasa got a personal record in the discus, placing 14th with a throw of 118-11.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
>> Long Beach State sophomore outside hitter Taylor Crabb (Punahou ’10) hit .421 with a match-high 20 kills, eight digs, two block assists and an assist in a four-game victory over Hawaii on Saturday. Crabb had seven kills, eight digs and an ace in a three-game sweep of the Warriors on Friday.
>> Southern California freshman setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha ’11) had 44 assists, nine digs, three kills and two block assists, and Henry Cassiday (Punahou ’10) chipped in with four digs for the Trojans in a five-set victory over Stanford on Saturday. Senior outside Brad Lawson (‘Iolani ’08) finished with a team-high 16 kills, 10 digs, four aces and two block assists, and Erik Shoji (Punahou ’08) had a match-high 13 digs for the Cardinal.
>> Emerson (Mass.) junior Justin Chun (Punahou ’09) had a game-high 20 digs in a five-game loss to Daniel Webster College on Monday.
WOMEN’S WATER POLO
>> Cal State Bakersfield sophomore Paige Tsuruda (Word of Life ’10) scored the game-winning goal in a 10-9 win over Colorado State in the opening game of the Roadrunner Invitational III on Saturday. Tsuruda finished with three goals in two days to help the Roadrunners finish 2-2.
>> Harvard sophomore Shayna Price (Punahou ’10) had two goals, three assists and two steals in a 10-4 win over Mercyhurst and added three assists in an 18-12 win over George Washington on Saturday in Washington D.C. Sister Aisha Price (Punahou ’09) had a team-high four goals, two steals and an assist against the Colonials.
>> Redlands (Calif.) junior driver Moana Tuipulotu (Lahainaluna ’09) netted two goals in a 13-4 win over Whittier (Calif.) on Saturday to open Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
