Pearl Ridge Elementary will receive $1.15 million in education special funds to support the school’s use of technology.

The funding will go toward design, construction and works of art for electrical system upgrades to transformers, outlets, conduits and control panels. The improvements are needed to support increased technology use at the school.

The design phase will begin in July, with construction scheduled to follow from June 2013 to February 2014.

State Rep. Heather Giugni calls the planned upgrades a milestone. She says it is essential to give Hawaii’s students every resource possible to learn and compete in an age of rapidly evolving technological innovation.
