ALOHA, GERMAN STYLE | Ann and David Leonard of Honolulu were strolling down a street in the Friedrichshagen section of Berlin last month when they spotted the Mauna Kea restaurant. The blackboard menu posted outside featured an item called the “Iron Man.” The Leonards reported that the restaurant’s motto is “wo man sich trifft! — Mauna Kea” or “where people meet.” They inquired inside and learned that the chef once lived in the islands. The photo was taken by their daughter Linnea Forsythe who lives in Berlin.
