Hawaii police identify man killed in Friday highway crash
Hawaii County police have identified the man who died Friday in a two-vehicle crash as Waimoku T. Lum Ho, 28, of Mountain View.
Lum Ho was driving a 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 11, traveling south, when he rear-ended a 2009 Dodge Ram flatbed truck, police said.
Police said the Dodge driver, a 39-year-old Volcano man, was not injured in the 1:27 a.m. crash.
Lum Ho was taken by fire rescue personnel to Hilo Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m., police said.
Police have ordered an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
It was the ninth traffic fatality on Hawaii island thi year, compared to six the same time last year.
