The top-ranked Punahou softball team tallied eight runs in the first inning on its way to a 13-1 win over Sacred Hearts in an ILH game Monday.
Mysha Sataraka and Reina Furuya both launched home runs for the host Buffanblu, who tacked on four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The game ended after five innings due to the mercy rule.
Punahou freshman Nicole Nishizawa and senior Tai Manu-Olevao combined on a three-hitter.

After Ashlee De Santos scored the tying run on a squeeze bunt by Erica Inagaki, Carolann Toyama singled in Brianna Guro for the go-ahead run in the bottom of the third inning and the Spartans beat the Raiders.
Shearyna Labasan scattered seven hits and struck out six to earn the complete-game victory.
