Magnitude-6.5 quake shakes Vanuatu
NEW YORK >> No tsunami was generaged when a magnitude-6.5 earthquake rattled the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, the U.S. Geological Survey and Pacific Tsunmai Warning Center reported.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
The quake struck at 9:05 a.m. Sunday local time (12:12 p.m. Saturday Hawaii time), some 5.4 miles below the surface, the USGS said.
The USGS said the quake hit some 91 miles southeast of Port-Vila, Vanuatu and about 1,158 miles northeast of Brisbane, Australia.
