Storage auction nets explosive squibs

[ AD HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS STORY ]

A man who won an auction for the contents of an unpaid storage locker wasn’t sure what to make of the 18 explosive-looking devices he uncovered, so he took them to the Kapolei police substation.

The objects turned out to be squibs, miniature explosive devices that were apparently to be used as special effects for a movie or some other show, said Sgt. Tommy Carreiro, leader of the HPD Specialized Services Division’s bomb squad.

Carreiro said he and his team were called out to the Kapolei substation to dispose of the contents.
