The guided missile destroyer USS Russell is home at Pearl Harbor after its 7-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East was extended by about three weeks just before North Korea’s April 13 failed rocket launch.

The Russell, which returned Monday, has ballistic missile shoot-down capability.

“It is not clear how long the delay will be or when exactly we will return from deployment,” the ship’s captain, Cmdr. Joseph Carrigan, said March 24 on the Russell’s Facebook page. “Regrettably, due to concerns about operational security, I am unable to provide more details than these.”
