Woman who eluded police for four days arrested in theft case
A 30-year-old homeless woman, who eluded police for four days after she was seen breaking into a car in the Ala Moana area, was arrested Tuesday after police picked her up for an unrelated theft case.
The owner of the vehicle saw the unknown woman inside her car at Ala Moana Shopping Center about 4:20 p.m. Friday and activated the panic alarm, causing the thief to jump out of the vehicle and run to a waiting vehicle, which fled the scene, police said.
An officer tried to stop the getaway vehicle on Ward Avenue, but the driver drove to Cutter Mazda where the two occupants got out and ran. Officers captured the driver, a 40-year-old man, but couldn’t find the woman.
Police arrested the woman today for an unrelated theft case and later booked her at 10:30 a.m. on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a vehicle for Friday’s break-in.
