GASPAR PRESENTS PO AT HUNGRY EAR
1. Hawaii music scene veteran Boom Gaspar, center, was in the house when the other members of Po & the 4Fathers — Moku Young, left, Kawai Hoe, Kalei Young and Roman Corpuz — celebrated the release of the quintet’s vinyl single, “Kingdom Come,” with “Do Ya” on the B side, with an acoustic performance April 21 at Hungry Ear Records. Gaspar plays organ and keyboards with the group; Eddie Vedder and Stone Gossard are guests on the record.

GNARWAHL RELEASES VINYL AT MERCURY BAR
5. Record producer/musician Nelson Cho, center, was first in line to buy a copy of Gnarwahl’s new vinyl single at the group’s record release party April 21 at the Mercury Bar. Gnarwahl members Nick Ayakawa, left, and Adam Funari appreciated the support from another member of the music industry and promptly autographed the sleeve for him.

SANTAMARIA WELCOMES MIAO
4. Fashion designer Ritchie Miao, left, was the guest of honor at a private reception and fashion show presented by Jose Santamaria, far right, April 20 in the Lobby Bar of the Modern Honolulu. The highlight of the event was the introduction of Miao’s new Lovelessism collection. Kassy Kannar, second from left, and Roman Mysin were two of the models who appeared in the show.

FERNANDEZ’S CD FINALLY OUT
2. Kamakakehau Fernandez, left, talked with emcee Tony Solis at the CD release party for his debut album, “Wahi Mahalo,” April 19 at the Willows. Fernandez is one of Hawaii’s best young Hawaiian falsetto singers, and his long-awaited album is a welcome step forward for him.

‘KOOL GOLD’ GETS REAL
3. “107.9 Kool Gold” staffer Rafael, left, congratulated “The Real” Ron O’Neil, center, and his single-monickered sidekick, Charlie, on their return to the airwaves April 15 in the “Kool Gold” studios in Kapalama. The station had dropped O’Neil’s popular Sunday afternoon “live” air shift almost four years ago, and the new management’s decision to bring him back restores an important attraction to weekend programming.
