2 injured as motorcycle rear-ends car
An 18-year-old woman was in critical condition Sunday morning after the motorcycle she was riding on crashed into a car on the Moanalua Freeway, prompting police to shut down all Ewa-bound lanes of the freeway.
Police said a 19-year-old man driving the motorcycle rear-ended a Honda Civic at about 4 a.m. roughly 400 feet before the Ala Aolani Street overpass. Both riders of the motorcycle were wearing helmets and were thrown onto the freeway.
The man suffered multiple injuries and went to the Queen’s Medical Center in good condition. The woman went to Queen’s with abrasions to her right arm, but her condition later worsened to critical, police said.
The man driving the car and his female passenger, both 18, were unhurt.

Suspect at first avoids arrest by swimming
A 42-year-old man evaded police for about two hours Saturday night when he jumped into the water near the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor after an officer shot him with a stun gun.
Officers responded to a call about a man trespassing on a boat at about 6:20 p.m. When they arrived, they saw the man on the boat and told him to get off. Instead, he brandished a knife and threatened to kill the officers, police said.
One of the officers used his stun gun on the man, police said. The suspect then jumped into the water and swam away.
Firefighters provided lighting from the Ala Moana Beach Park side of the channel for patrol officers on shore and in a small boat. Officers arrested the man on the Waikiki side of the channel when he eventually got out. Police said he continued to resist capture by kicking an officer.
The man, who didn’t give a home address, was arrested at 8:11 p.m. for investigation of five counts of first-degree terroristic threatening against the officers, assault on an officer, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest.
