Man found guilty of manslaughter in attack at Iwilei bar
A state jury found Tevita Aholelei guilty of manslaughter Friday morning for causing the death of another man in an apparently unprovoked attack outside an Iwilei bar last December.
Aholelei, 21, faces a maximum 20-year prison term when he is sentenced in July.
Witnesses said Aholelei sucker-punched 26-year-old Solomone Niusini outside Da Kine Sports Bar Dec. 18.
Niusini fell backward and hit his head on the ground. He was taken to Queen’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner said Niusini died from blunt head trauma.
While free on bail awaiting trial for Niusini’s death, Aholelei was arrested for another apparently unprovoked attack outside a Waikiki bar.

Honolulu police said Aholelei and another man attacked two other men in the parking lot outside Zanzabar Night Club on Mar. 1.
Aholelei is awaiting trial for misdemeanor assault in that case.
