University of Hawaii first baseman Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu drove in three runs and pitcher Stephanie Ricketts earned the 100th win of her career as the Rainbow Wahine softball team opened a series with Utah State with a 9-2 win today in Logan, Utah.

Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu gave UH the lead with an RBI single in the second inning and added a two-run home run in the fourth. Shortstop Jessica Iwata hit a solo homer in the fifth and the Wahine scored five runs in the seventh.

Ricketts struck out six, walked two and gave up eight hits while improving to 26-3 this season and 100-35 in her career.

No. 12/14 UH improved to 41-5 overall and 15-3 in Western Athletic Conference play, maintaining its spot in first place.

Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu gave UH the lead with a two-out single that scored Dara Pagaduan from second in the top of the second inning.

Leisha Li’ili’i doubled to lead off the fourth inning and pinch-runner Jazmine Zamora advanced on a sacrifice. Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu then hit her eighth home run of the season to give UH a 3-0 lead.

Iwata added a solo homer in the fifth inning, her 11th of the season and 44th of her career, tying her with Kate Robinson for second on UH’s all-time home run list.

In the seventh, Iwata drew a bases-loaded walk and Alex Aguirre followed with a two-run single. Two more runs scored on an error on Pagaduan’s grounder and UH led 9-0.

UH took a streak of 26 consecutive scoreless innings into the bottom of the seventh before   pinch-hitter Lindsey Marquez hit a two-run homer to break up the shutout.

Campbell graduate Nicole Arata started at shortstop for Utah State and went 0-for-2 with a walk.

UH closes the regular season on Sunday with a doubleheader against the Aggies (17-34, 4-15).
