Remember listening to a favorite slack-key album in your college dorm room while sucking on the crack seed your mom sent you? Or that special nahenahe song you danced to on your wedding day? Or the Jawaiian anthem that played over and over on the radio that summer after you graduated?
Share those island memories by telling us, in 150 words or less, about the Hawaiian song, album or performer that holds a special place in your heart or just brings a smile to your face, and you could win a prize package worth more than $2,500 in the "Dream Night at the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards Contest," sponsored by the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and the Hawai‘i Academy of Recording Arts.
The winner will receive two VIP tickets to the awards dinner featuring Hawaii’s top music stars on May 27 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center, a one-night stay at the Ala Moana Hotel, a tuxedo rental from Celebrity Tuxedos and a formal dress from Calista, a couple’s package from Ho‘ala Salon and Spa, an ukulele from KoAloha, a collection of CDs from Mountain Apple Co., limousine service to the awards dinner from Platinum Limousine, and brunch on May 28 at Wolfgang’s Steakhouse by Wolfgang Zwiener.
You must be a Hawaii resident age 21 or older to enter. Email your entry to features@staradvertiser.com no later than May 21, or send it by regular mail, postmarked by May 19, to Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, Features Dept., Honolulu Star-Advertiser, 500 Ala Moana Blvd., Suite 7-210, Honolulu HI 96813.
