A 53-year-old Waipahu man remained in police custody for investigation of several counts of attempted murder after he allegedly rammed three men with a pickup truck Tuesday night in Waipahu.

The man was arrested at the main police station at 12:45 p.m. Thursday for investigation of first-degree attempted murder and three counts of second-degree attempted murder. 

Police said the ramming happened during a fight that began when a 48-year-old man was evicting his 30-year-old tenant and the tenant’s family about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The tenant threw large rocks at his landlord, his landlord’s 46-year-old brother and the brother’s 20-year-old son, police said.

A 29-year-old Waipahu man who was with the tenants allegedly struck the brother and the brother’s son with a billy club.

Police said the 53-year-old man who also was with the tenants rammed the three victims with a Mazda truck and hit a wall. The landlord sustained the worst injuries with a broken leg.

All three assailants fled, but police arrested the two younger men that night for investigation of assault. Both men remained at the main police cellblock.

Police said all three victims went to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
