A Puna woman is being held on $1 million bail after being charged with heroin and weapons offenses, Hawaii County police said.

Catherine R. Kessaris, 58, appeared in a Hilo court Monday to face charges of promoting a dangerous drug and other offenses.

Vice officers searched her Melekule Street home in the Orchidland subdivsion on May 10 and seized about a pound of heroin, digital scales, packing materials, 2 firearms and $5,200 in cash.

A 52-year-old Keaau woman, also arrested at the home, was released without charges.
