Tickets offered to ‘Ingredients’
Join Abundance Hawaii and Robert Bates will hand you tickets to the screening of his documentary "Ingredients Hawai‘i."
Bates will be at Kahala Mall’s Center Court from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday to give out tickets for a 6:30 p.m. screening on May 23 at the mall’s multiplex.
Bates’ short film looks into the local food movement and explores cultural and ecological issues, with interviews of farmers and chefs.
Pagoda hosts craft beer event
Celebrate American Craft Beer Week on Friday, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Pagoda Floating Restaurant.
The Hops & Grinds beer tasting will include a sampling of unique American craft beers with pupu courtesy of the restaurant’s executive chef, Jason Takemura.
Breweries featured include Brewery Ommegang, Boston Beer Co., Mendocino Brewing Co., Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. and Hawaii Nui Brewing.
Advance tickets for $25 are available at the restaurant, 1525 Rycroft St.; the Liquor Collection in Ward Warehouse; and the Wine Stop at 1809 S. King St.
Tickets will be $30 at the door.

Cooking geared toward athletes
"Sports Nutrition," exploring a plant-based cuisine for athletes, is an Eat Well for Life cooking class at Castle Medical Center.
The class, complete with samples and take-home recipes, runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 23 in the Wellness Center auditorium.
Cost is $15, $20 couples and $10 seniors and students.
Seating is limited, and payment and reservations are required at least two days in advance.

Haleiwa market gets reprieve
The Haleiwa Farmers’ Market will remain at its present location for about two more weeks, through May 27.
The Sunday market is close to finalizing a new location after the state said it must move. The state will allow the market to extend its time at the present site so it can remain uninterrupted.
