Collin Bennett homered and drove in both Hawaii runs in a 2-0 victory over Nevada on Thursday night at Les Murakami Stadium.

Jarrett Arakawa (7-5) tossed eight shutout innings and Lawrence Chew earned his third save for the Rainbows (29-22, 9-7 Western Athletic Conference), who moved within a game of league-leading Nevada (30-22, 10-6) and idle Sacramento State.

Hawaii can win a share of the regular-season WAC title with two more wins against the Wolf Pack, who were held to six hits.

Braden Shipley (8-4) struck out a career-high 12 in the loss for the Nevada.

Breland Almadova had two hits for UH, which snapped a four-game losing streak with its 24th win in the last 32 home games.

Scott Squier will start Game 2 of the series on Friday night at 6:35.
