Sign up keiki with cancer for weeklong summer camp
Registration is taking place for the American Cancer Society’s Camp Anuenue, which offers a free, weeklong summer camp from June 3 to 9 for children ages 7 to 18 who have or have had cancer.
The camp will be held at Camp Mokuleia on the North Shore, where activities will include paddleboarding, outrigger canoeing, archery, zip-lining, crafts, campfires and a dance night where kids will receive a professional makeover.
Campers do not have to be in remission to attend. Medical professionals and qualified counselors are on staff 24 hours a day and transportation to Honolulu for treatment is provided.

Mayor’s office seeks help creating Memorial Day lei
Lend a hand to help sew the more than 50,000 fresh flower lei needed to be placed at gravesites at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific this Memorial Day.
The Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts is asking people to come to the Honolulu Hale courtyard to help sew lei from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 25. The Royal Hawaiian Band Glee Club will provide entertainment.
The Mayor’s Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Punchbowl cemetery at 8:30 a.m. May 28.

Those who cannot attend next week’s lei-sewing event can drop off lei on May 25 at designated community parks (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and fire stations (6:30 a.m. to noon), the Parks Permit Office in the Fasi Municipal Building (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or the Kapolei Hale security desk (8 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
Loose plumeria and other lei flowers will be accepted at Waipahu and Kailua district parks, and the Makua Ali‘i Senior Center, at 1541 Kalakaua Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to noon May 25.
