Former MMA fighter opening salon
A former professional mixed martial arts fighter is opening a new rental salon and spa in Kakaako on Sunday.
Abe Rodriguez, a fighter-turned-hairstylist, will host a grand opening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. of Nueve Salon & Spa, a loft-style salon offering hair as well as spa services such as facials and massages, at 614 Cooke St.
Salon stylists rent space at the second-level shop above Baby Emporium and are required to attend ongoing continuing education classes to offer the latest styles and techniques. The spa has a separate entrance from the salon. Call 597-1614 for more information.
