Hawaii will open against Fresno State in WAC baseball tournament

The fourth-seeded Hawaii baseball team will open play in the Western Athletic Conference tournament on Wednesday at noon Hawaii time against Fresno State at Hohokam Stadium in Mesa, Ariz.

The Rainbows (30-23, 10-8) finished a game behind New Mexico State, Sacramento State and Nevada, which all tied for first place at 11-7.

The Aggies and Hornets receive first-round byes with New Mexico State claiming the overall No. 1 seed following a 15-2 win over San Jose State on Sunday.

The Spartans are the odd team out after finishing last at 5-13.

UH and Fresno will meet in a rematch of the last two title games. The Rainbows beat the Bulldogs in 2010 while Fresno returned the favor last year in the only two tournaments played at Hohokam Stadium.
