Hawaii isle garden holding open house
The public is invited to an open house at Amy B.H. Greenwell Ethnobotanical Garden from 4 to 6 p.m. June 8 at the garden’s new visitor center in Captain Cook on Hawaii island.
The center includes a gift shop with Hawaii botany and cultural books, cards, paintings, handcrafted woodworks and other Hawaiian culture-related items.
The garden showcases the native plants and trees used in Hawaiian culture before Western contact. Self-guided tours can be taken from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. The garden is closed Mondays.
Admission is $7 for adults, with reduced fees for seniors, kamaaina, military and children.

Vow renewal linked to planetary event
The Hyatt Regency Maui is inviting couples to renew their wedding vows in a group ceremony to coincide with the transit of Venus, a rare planetary alignment where Venus passes directly between the sun and Earth.
The free ceremony is set at 4 p.m. June 5 at the resort.

Enjoy an evening of art at Fourth Friday
ART OUT, an evening of art, music and food, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Paia, Maui. The Fourth Friday event will feature artist demonstrations, including live model sculpting and painting, tattooing, gyotaku, etching and photography at various galleries.
An Evening of Ukulele featuring Hoku-winning artists will be held in the parking lot at 149 Hana Highway across from Charley’s, from 6:30 to 10 p.m.
