Hawaii’s Fujikawa finishes with 83
Hawaii’s Tadd Fujikawa closed with a 12-over-par 83 on Saturday, falling to last place out of 75 finishers in the eGolf Tour’s River Hills Classic at River Hills Country Club in Lake Wylie, S.C.
After opening with rounds of 71-70 to make the cut by a shot, Fujikawa was 16 over in the final two rounds. He won $1,010.
Apine, Alvarez miss out on NCAAs
Hawaii track and field triple jumpers Madara Apine and Amanda Alvarez did not qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the West preliminary round in Austin, Texas.
Apine placed 15th overall and missed qualifying for nationals by 2 inches. The reigning Western Athletic Conference gold medalist had a jump of 41 feet, 61⁄2 inches. She moved on to the second round, but could not better that mark.
Alvarez, the WAC bronze medal winner, finished 21st overall with a jump of 41-13⁄4.
UH’s Emma MacCorquodale placed 39th in the hammer throw (178-11).
