Gas odor on Keeaumoku Street under investigation
The Gas Co. is investigating a gas odor on Keeaumoku Street, but the odor is not affecting customers or threatening the public, a company spokesman said.
The synthetic natural gas odor was reported about 3:40 p.m. near Keeaumoku Street between Beretania and Young streets, said Gas Co. spokesman Joe Boivin.
Firefighters responded, but turned the scene over to Gas Co. crews, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
Boivin said crews were still trying to locate the gas leak about 5:40 p.m.
He said customers and traffic were not affected.
