Members of frequent-flier programs with both Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue Airways will soon be able to earn and redeem points or miles for travel on either airline, the companies announced Wednesday.
A new code-share agreement between the airlines takes effect Tuesday, when Hawaiian launches its nonstop service between Hawaii and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.
JetBlue’s TrueBlue members will be able to earn one point for every two miles flown on eligible Hawaiian-operated flights, while HawaiianMiles members can accrue miles on eligible JetBlue-operated flights on a mile-for-mile basis.
To earn miles, customers must call JetBlue or Hawaiian Airlines reservations to enter their TrueBlue or HawaiianMiles number into their itinerary before travel. Frequent fliers can also redeem their points or miles for travel on either airline’s network by calling their program’s reservation desk.
The airlines said the code-sharing agreement provides one-stop check-in and boarding passes from origin to destination.
JetBlue advertises that it has the most legroom in coach of any U.S. airline based on average fleet-wide seat pitch, free in-flight entertainment at every seatback, and unlimited free snacks and drinks. Hawaiian said it is the only carrier serving Hawaii that offers complimentary hot meals in all cabins.
