Police have arrested the alleged hit-and-run driver who killed a 30-year-old Kaneohe man on Kahekili Highway over the weekend
The 31-year-old Ewa Beach man was arrested at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday at Wet’n’Wild water park in Kapolei. He remains in custody at the main station, on suspicion of fleeing the scene of an accident, first-degree negligent homicide, and first-degree terroristic threatening.
Police did not say how officers found the man.
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Matthew Fragas. He died of cranial cerebral injuries from the crash.
A vehicle, likely traveling toward Kailua, hit Fragas at 2:15 a.m. Saturday near Ahuimanu Place. He was not in a crosswalk and alcohol may have been a factor, police said. The vehicle fled the scene.
An Emergency Medical Services supervisor said Fragas was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
