Although many of the top high school prospects will be attending this weekend’s University of Hawaii football camps, the curriculum is designed for all skill and experience levels.
“We’re going to take it nice and easy so everyone will have an opportunity to learn,” said UH assistant coach Chris Demarest, who is serving as the coordinator of the camps. “We hope to make it a good experience for everybody.”
The Big Man’s Camp for linemen and tight ends is Saturday. The Skills Camp is Sunday. Both camps are for ages 13-17. The $20 fee includes a T-shirt, sandwich, refreshments and insurance coverage.
The Youth Camp (for ages 5-12) will be held June 11-13. The fee is $60.
The Team Camp (grades 9 to 11) will be held June 18-20. The fee is $60 per participant. A player does not have to be a member of a team to participate. Pads are optional. Demarest said teams with pads will be grouped separately from teams without pads.
Each camp has a session from 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a 2-hour break, and then a session from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
