Police probing possible burglary, arson at Waipahu business
Police are investigating a fire that may been started early Monday morning to cover up a burglary at a Waipahu landscape and maintenance company.
Capt. Terry Seelig, fire department spokesman, said the alarm was turned in at 2:55 a.m. at the business in the 94-000 block of Farrington Highway.
Two pickup trucks were on fire in a fenced area and firefighters were forced to cut a fence to get to the fire, Seelig said.
After the fire was extinguished at 3:30 a.m., fire investigators discovered that several other trucks and a shipping container had been broken into. Flammable liquids had been poured over the two truck to start the fire, Seelig said.
Damage to the two trucks was estimated at $9,000.
