Keenan makes All-America second team
Recent Hawaii graduate TeRina Keenan was officially named to the NCAA Track All-America second team Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. Keenan, a discus thrower from New Zealand, took ninth at last week’s NCAA championships.
First-team USTFCCCA All-America honors are awarded to those who earn any portion of a team point at the national championships or reach an eight-entrant final. Second-team All-America honors are for those whose final placing in the national meet ranges from ninth to 16th place. Those who participated at the finals but did not place in the meet’s top 16 are listed as honorable mention for the All-America award.
UH finishes No. 22 and 23 in softball polls
The University of Hawaii softball team closed the 2012 season at No. 22 in the USA Today/NFCA Division I Top 25 and 23rd in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25. The final polls of the season were released on Tuesday.
The Rainbow Wahine set a school record for winning percentage (.830) in posting a 44-9 record and earned a berth in the NCAA tournament.
UHH picks a new men’s soccer coach
Jeffrey "Ziggy" Korytoski has been chosen as the men’s soccer coach at Hawaii-Hilo, athletic director Dexter Irvin announced Tuesday.
Korytoski has experience in coaching pro and college soccer.
Medina hired as HPU cross country coach
Jorge Medina, a former assistant at the University of West Alabama, is the new men’s and women’s cross country coach at Hawaii Pacific University.
