Man dies of injuries 2 days after crash
A motorcyclist died Sunday from injuries he sustained in a collision with a car in North Kona.
Motorcyclist Randall C. Guadiz, 41, of Waikoloa was driving north on Route 190 at 10:38 p.m. Friday when he overtook a vehicle in a no-passing zone, sideswiped a southbound Toyota four-door sedan and crashed near the 17-mile marker. Guadiz was wearing a helmet.
Fire Rescue personnel took him to North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was flown to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died at 6:19 p.m. Sunday.
The driver of the Toyota, a 45-year-old California woman, was uninjured.
There have been 19 traffic deaths in Hawaii County this year, compared with 12 at this time last year.
Male duo thrashes and robs cabdriver
A taxi driver reported he was beaten and robbed in Kaneohe by two men whom he picked up on Keeaumoku Street early Sunday morning, police said.
The cabbie said he picked up the two men on Keeaumoku and drove them to a Nahewai Street address at about 2:24 a.m., police said. Once at the destination, the passengers refused to pay their fare. When the driver tried to hold the suspects until police arrived, the two men allegedly beat him and fled.
Arriving officers located one of the suspects, 21, at a Nahewai Street address, and the victim subsequently identified him as one of his attackers. The other suspect, 22, a roommate of the man in custody, was located a short time later and also identified by the cabdriver, police said.
Both suspects were being held pending charges of second-degree robbery.
Woman kicks out police car’s window
A woman, 19, was arrested after allegedly trespassing on the grounds of a Honolulu school and then kicking out the window of a patrol car early Monday morning, police said.
The woman was arrested by officers for trespassing at Kaimuki High School at about 3:05 a.m., police said.
As she was being transported to the main station, the woman kicked out the window of a blue-and-white patrol car, police said. The woman was highly intoxicated and uncooperative at the time, police said. She was being held pending charges of trespassing and criminal property damage.
Kailua resident robbed of medical pakalolo
A man reported that he was robbed of three jars of medical marijuana from his Kailua home by four unknown men shortly after midnight Monday.
The man, 21, said he was in his bedroom when the men broke into his residence and demanded money from him.
When the victim said he didn’t have any money, the suspects took the jars and fled, police said. No suspects have been identified in connection with the case.
