Manoa man held in sword attack on father
A 26-year-old Manoa man attacked his father with a sword Tuesday night in a Manoa home, police said.
The incident occurred at about 10 p.m. at a house on Oahu Avenue.
Police said the man struck his 59-year-old father on the head with the sword, and that the father was taken to a hospital for treatment and released.
Police arrested the son about an hour later near his resi- dence on Oahu Avenue on suspicion of second-degree at- tempted murder.
Hilo man, 34, wanted over gunfire
Hawaii County police are looking for a 34-year-old Hilo man they have identified as a suspect in the discharging of a firearm early Wednesday morning in the parking lot of a condominium complex in Hilo.
Police are looking for Jarvis Naoki Higa. Police said a suspect allegedly Jarvis Naoki Higa threatened another 34-year-old Hilo man in the Orchid Manor condominium complex on Kalani- anaole Avenue.
Police said the suspect fled af- ter firing one round.
Police describe Higa as 5 feet 6 inches tall and 160 pounds, with short black hair and tattoos on his chest.
Police warn that he may be armed and dangerous.

Pearl City accident badly hurts pedestrian
Police closed Waimano Home Road on Wednesday night in both directions between Noelani and Hoomaemae streets in Pearl City after a pedestrian was injured in an accident.
The accident happened about 8:15 p.m. near Leomele Street. An Emergency Medical Services official said a woman in her 50s was taken to a hospital in critical condi- tion.
