AT&T fixes service problems after 3 hours
AT&T wireless phone service was restored at 10 a.m. Wednesday after a three-hour interruption that affected voice, data and message services, a company representative in San Diego reported.
Anna Crowe, AT&T spokeswoman, said the phone company is still investigating the cause of the interruption. She said she didn’t know how many customers in Hawaii were affected by the problem that began around 7 a.m.
“Service is running normally now,” Crowe said.
There are no immediate plans to reimburse customers for the lost service until it is determined what caused the interruption, Crowe added.
Male body discovered afloat off Poipu
Kauai police recovered the body of a man found floating off Shipwrecks Beach on Tuesday evening.
Police tentatively identified the 35-year-old man, but officials were not disclosing his name until relatives are notified.
Police do not believe foul play was a factor in his death, a county news release said.
A hiker called 911 about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to report a body floating near the rocks at the Poipu beach.
Firefighters arrived first and found the body about a quarter-mile east of Shipwrecks Beach. Rescue personnel on the Fire Department helicopter helped police recover the body.
Police opened an investigation. An autopsy was ordered.
Self-defense called possible in fatal knifing
A tenant of an East Hawaii man charged with murder said the stabbing may have been in self-defense.
Detectives have charged Daniel Schuster, 49, with second-degree murder in the Sunday stabbing of Joshua Trickel, 30.
Trickel was found facedown in a pool of blood in Schuster’s Honomu home.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reported that, according to court documents, the tenant told police that Trickel stabbed Schuster first. Documents say Schuster had an injury to his left forearm.
Last year, Schuster had filed for a temporary restraining order, claiming Trickel trashed Schuster’s home.
Schuster was being held in lieu of $104,000 bail and could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
