2 Hawaii surfers make U.S. Open main event
Four Hawaii surfers advanced out of trials and into the U.S. Open of Surfing at Huntington Beach, Calif.
Torrey Meister of Kailua-Kona and Keanu Asing of Ewa Beach made it to the main event by surviving two rounds of trials on Sunday.
In the Women’s U.S. Open of Surfing Pro Junior, Hawaii’s Leila Hurst and Tatiana Weston-Webb made it through quarterfinal heats to advance to the semifinals.
