The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 28-year-old Pearl City man who was killed Friday night when he lost control of his motorcycle on H-1 Freeway as Michael Salinas.

He died of head injuries, officials said today.

Police said Salinas lost control of his motorcycle on the H-1 off-ramp leading to the Nimitz viaduct, struck a guardrail and was thrown to the road. He was taken to Queen’s Medical Center where he died. He was wearing a helmet, police said

This was Oahu’s 39th traffic death, compared with 29 at the same time last year.
