The 37-year-old Mililani man charged with forcing his way into a Waipio home and firing a gun while trying to evade police entered a plea of not guilty in Circuit Court today.

Lance L.H. Yurong has been charged with first-degree burglary, auto theft, attempted auto theft, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangering, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and promotion of a dangerous drug.

Circuit Judge Richard Perkins set his trial date for the week of Oct. 1 before Judge Michael Wilson.

His arraignment was done using the judiciary’s closed circuit video system since Yurong is being held in Oahu Community Correctional Center unable to post $500,000 bail.

Last Thursday acting on a tip, police officers went to a parking lot on Ka Uka Boulevard looking for a man suspected  of robbing a recycling collection center July 5.

Yurong was found sitting in a stolen parked car, which he drove into a wall while trying to escape.

Police said he abandoned the stolen car and ran to a home on Mele Place, firing one shot from a handgun.

He then forcibly entered the Mele Place home where two people were able to escape.

Yurong then hid in a parked van on Waipio Uka Street and tried unsuccessfully to start the van before he was arrested.
