Firefighters battle 30-acre Waialua wildfire
About 40 firefighters battled to contain a 30-acre Waialua wildfire Thursday afternoon.
The fire in the area across from the Waialua District Park and Kukea Circle was contained at about 4:40 p.m.
The wildfire, which began at about 2 p.m. scorched about 30 acres of fallow agricultural land of brush and grass, but no property was threatened.
The fire came as close as 50 feet to farm storage buildings and about 100 feet from homes, said fire Capt. Terry Seelig.
The fire did not cause any evacuation of residents or any road closures.
