There’s no excuse for being bored
After voting today in the critically important 2012 primary election, there still is plenty you can do, other than chores or just vegging around the house.
Like what? Friday’s Star-Advertiser Sports section had a ton of suggestions. Auto racing today at Kalaeloa Raceway Park, starting at 3 p.m.; lawn bowling at Ala Moana Park starting at 10 a.m.; the Turtle Bay Summer Paddle Classic at Hukilau Beach, starting at 1:30 p.m.; a rodeo at New Town & Country Stables in Waimanalo, starting at 8 a.m.; and Aloha Beach Volleyball at Maili Beach Park from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Of course, there’s more … just get out there, if you can, and enjoy the brief pause before the next phase of the 2012 election cycle.
Hawaii Little Leaguers doing well again
Let’s hear it for the Little Leaguers from Nanakuli, who triumphed Friday 6-5 over a team from Rincon, Ariz., in the West semi-finals of this year’s run-up to the Little League World Series. If they win today in the West final, in a game that can be watched on ESPN starting at 2 p.m., they will advance to the big show, which runs Thursday through Sunday, Aug. 26.
Two Hawaii teams have won the Little League World Series in the past: Ewa Beach in 2005 and Waipahu in 2008.
