A passed ball with two outs in the ninth inning resulted in the winning run as Middle Atlantic ended Oahu’s Cal Ripken World Series with a 9-8 victory on Friday.
The Shockers finished 3-2 in Aberdeen, Md., losing in the semifinals of the United States bracket.
Oahu was the No. 1 seed out of the American Division after finishing tied for first and winning a tiebreaker.
The Shockers trailed 8-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Kyson Donahue hit a two-run homer to cut the deficit to one.
With two outs and nobody on, Ryne Oshiro hit a solo home run to left to force extra innings.
Neither team could score for two innings before Middle Atlantic plated its run.
Donahue finished with four RBIs and Shea Yamaguchi was 2-for-5 with three runs scored.
Oshiro had three hits and drove in two runs and Matthew Inaba and Keene Tanaka each had two hits.
Trevor Ichimura kept Oahu in the game, pitching five scoreless innings after Middle Atlantic took an 8-2 lead in the fourth inning.
Ichimura allowed four hits and no walks with five strikeouts.
Donahue finished the tournament hitting .438 (7-for-16) with three doubles, three homers and 16 RBIs.
Oshiro led the team hitting .611 (11-for-18) with four doubles and nine RBIs.
Yamaguchi led the Shockers with 11 runs scored.
