3 arrested in assaults on police officers
Three people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting police officers at Ala Moana Beach Park in unrelated cases.
On Monday, officers tried to arrest a man on warrants at about 8:30 a.m. The suspect, 27, resisted, shoving and punching a police officer, police said.
While the two were wrestling on the ground, the man’s girlfriend, 25, kicked the officer in the head and then kicked a second officer in the legs as she was being arrested, police said.
The officers sustained bruises but no other injuries were reported.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree assault on a police officer. The man was arrested pending one count of first-degree assault on a police officer. Both were also arrested for allegedly resisting arrest and warrant counts. Neither listed a local address.
On Sunday afternoon a 26-year-old Makiki man was arrested after allegedly hitting a police officer who was trying to break up a fight at Ala Moana Beach Park.
Police said officers responded to a report of a fight at the park at 4:30 p.m. During the fracas the angry suspect grabbed the police officer, injuring him, according to a police report. Police said he was treated and released with minor injuries.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, third-degree assault and harassment.
Man and woman sought in Waikiki robbery
A man and woman are being sought by police after a couple reported being robbed in Waikiki early Monday morning.
Police said the victims, a 21-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were walking to their hotel room at about 2:10 a.m. when a man approached them, brandishing a dangerous instrument and demanded money.
After they complied, the man and a woman who was with him fled.
Hiker in Manoa rescued after ankle trouble
Honolulu fire rescue personnel helped an injured woman off the Manoa Falls trail Sunday evening.
The woman had been hiking with her husband and son when her surgically repaired ankle began to cause her difficulty, officials said.
They called for help when they weren’t able to hike out before dark.
Firefighters airlifted the woman off the trail. Her husband and son were able to walk out on their own.
