The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park quarter will be available at some local banks in the next two weeks.

An eruption on Kilauea Volcano’s East Rift Zone is depicted on the back (tail side) of the quarter dollar, while the front or head of the quarter shows the traditional George Washington portrait.

Released Monday by the U.S. Mint, the Volcano quarter is the fourth of five made available in 2012 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program.

The Hawaii park’s quarter will likely bear a "D" mint mark for the Denver Mint.

Although the U.S. Mint website indicates the quarters would only be available there, local banks will be carrying a limited supply.

First Hawaiian Bank will have the newly minted coin available Tuesday at its Oahu branches, with neighbor island branches to follow, a bank official said.

Bank of Hawaii will have a limited supply of the coins at selected branches across the state beginning Sept. 10.

On Oahu, the following branches will carry them:

Waialae-Kahala, Waikiki, Main, Kailua, Kapolei, Pearlridge and Ala Moana.

Hawaii island branches are Kaikoo and Kona. Maui branches are Kahului and Lahaina.

Kauai branch: Lihue.

The HFS Federal Credit Union on Hawaii island participated in the U.S. Mint’s launch of the coin Wednesday and had a limited supply on hand for those in attendance at the Kahua Hula near the Kilauea Visitor Center. It also had a limited supply this week for its members only.

The coins may be ordered at catalog.usmint.gov. A $10 roll of 40 quarters sells for $18.
