A Waipahu brush fire that has burned two acres was brought under control at 7:10 p.m.

The fire, reported at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, generated a lot of smoke in a grassy, brush area below Waipahu Intermediate School, said Capt. Terry Seelig.

About 15 firefighters battled the fire located in some brush where some homeless people live, near the Pupuole Street Mini Park, Seelig said.

The area is well away from any structures, he said.
